2017 In Review - The Perfectly Imperfect Mama

2017 In Review

by - Tuesday, January 09, 2018

Hey Hey Tuesday!

Yesterday I shared all about our Christmas & today I am reflecting on 2017.

Looking back on the past year, I can't help but get teary eyed.  When we started 2017, we were only eight months past our late miscarriage & our hearts were still healing.  And we just had no idea what the new year had in store for our family.  What we did know though was that we trusted God & had seen His hand in it all.

January ...
Millie Jo turned four years old on the 15th!
And we celebrated our girl with a Snow White inspired party.
One day in January the emotion I never, ever thought I would experience after losing Ruthie Belle hit me out of nowhere.  I shared all about just how good God's grace is here.

February ...
February 2017 marked one year since we had found out that we were expecting Ruthie Belle.
Also this month, Cooper learned just how important it is to have a heart that forgives.  That's a tough thing to learn & my sweet boy learned it at just six years old.  I pray he always remembers!

March ...
At the beginning of March, I had the privilege of sharing my testimony at an event.  And boy was Satan after me that night!
Psssst ... he didn't win! 😉

On the 24th, Cooper turned seven years old!!  My heart, time flies!

April ...
Dan & I celebrated eight years of marriage!
Love that man of mine so much!

May ...

May 3rd, 2017 was one year since Dan & I had found out that our sweet Ruthie Belle's heart was no longer beating.  On this particular blog post I shared John 13:7 with y'all ... Jesus said "you do not realize what I am doing, but later you will understand."  Wow!  He is good.
The first week of May, we went on our Disney cruise & it was AMAZING!!  I can't say enough great things about it.  We can NOT wait to go again!

On the 18th of this month, I wrote a post called A Daddy & A Miscarriage.  It has always been extremely important to me to remember that I wasn't the only one who lost our baby ... Dan did too.

And at the end of May last year, I finally laid down my miscarriage at the feet of Jesus ... once & for all.  I had to.  It was time.

June ...
Millie Jo had her second dance recital & rocked it!

Cooper had his last day of first grade!!
We went on our family beach vacation!

And I love having posts like this one to look back on & see just how good & faithful God is.

July ...
I celebrated twenty-eight years!
These two finished their second year of swim lessons.
And even though we didn't announce it until October, we found out in July that we were having another baby!!

[August & September were a big ole blur because I literally slept & threw up all day every day because #hellobaby ... thank goodness for my awesome hubby who took ALL the pictures for these next two months!]

August ...
Cooper started second grade!
And Millie Jo started her third year of dance & first year of gymnastics!

September ...
We attended the Walk for Life.  An event that means so much to us!

October ...
The first of October we went to the fair!
A very favorite tradition of ours!
We found out that baby Pegram is a GIRL!!

I shared a little bit about pregnancy after miscarriage.
We had Fall family pictures made ...
And we also celebrated Ruthie Belle's Day.

November ...
Dan went back on first shift ... & it's still pretty much amazing!!  What a long fifteen months that was!
And we celebrated Thanksgiving.

December ...

We did ALL the Christmas things

Cooper started his first year of basketball.
He is LOVING it!
Dan celebrated his thirty-first birthday.

My guys spent a weekend in Washington & watched the Redskins play!
And Millie Jo had her dance/gymnastics Christmas programs!

Oh my heart, what a year!!  God has blessed us tremendously & I know I say this often, but I give Him all the glory & praise!

2018, I can't wait for you!

Before I go, I know some of you are probably wondering what announcement I have to share that I mentioned yesterday ...
I am so excited to share with y'all that after much prayer, Dan & I have decided to do a marriage blog series on all about how God saved our marriage.  I don't want to give away too many details right now but I will tell you that it starts next week & will last nine weeks.  If you know anyone whose marriage is going through a hard time, please encourage them to follow along with our story!
