What is Love? - The Perfectly Imperfect Mama

What is Love?

by - Tuesday, February 14, 2017

It is currently 12:34am on Tuesday morning as I write this blog post.
I had no intention on writing this specific one today but as I was preparing Dan, Cooper & Millie Jo's Valentine's Day special surprises earlier I started thinking . . . "what is love?"

Love :  [Noun] :: 1. A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.  2. A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.

That [with a few other things] is what love says in the dictionary.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

That is what the Bible says love is.

How amazing is the truth in those verses!?!

When I read them I like to replace the word 'love' with God.

God is patient, God is kind . . .

I love the part that says "love keeps no record of wrongs" . . "God keeps no record of wrongs."  He doesn't throw past mistakes up in our faces ... and thank goodness, too!  Once you go to Him and truly repent of your sins, it is forgotten.
He always protects . . . and love never fails.  God never fails us.  He is always there, but it is our choice to go to Him . . to keep our eyes to Him . . to praise Him for the good and the bad things we go through in life . . to love Him . . to be like Him.

That's how I want to be.  I want to be like God.  I want my life to be centered around Christ.  I want to be love.  And I want to love like God.

I fail God daily, but His love never fails me.

God is love.

Happy Valentine's Day!
My prayer is that today [and everyday] is filled with so much love!
