Christmas 2015 :: Part Three - The Perfectly Imperfect Mama

Christmas 2015 :: Part Three

by - Wednesday, December 30, 2015

Our last family Christmas of 2015 was on Saturday night.

You just have no idea how long I have waited to host the Self Family Christmas.  When I was asked if we could do it at my house this year, of course I said yes!!

I'm all about hosting a party so a coffee/hot chocolate bar & a dessert table were a must!
Y'all, the hot chocolate I made was the best hot chocolate we all had ever had!  Thank you so much Shay from The Mix and Match Mama blog for sharing it.  It was a HUGE hit! You can find it here.  I can't wait to make this again on the cold winter days!

Love my goofball cousins!
Our family is known for eating on any staircase :).

Our first Self Family Christmas at our house was a huge success!

We love games.
We played Dirty Santa this year & laughed so much.
Some of those gifts were just hideous which made it that much more fun!
My sweet little mini me.
We heart plaid & flannel!
My people.

I'm so thankful to be a part of such an amazing, loving, caring, beautiful family.

Before I go, last week we took our kiddos on a train ride to "Christmas Town."  Typically we go up to the mountains & do one called the Polar Express but since we were so busy this year we decided to do one closer to us.  I've had several people ask how it was so I thought I would share a few pictures with you.
You go inside this big tent to get your tickets & you can see the train on the backside of it.
Inside there are props set up everywhere so that you can take pictures.  Our first stop were these big huge Christmas trees.  They have a little gift shop set up, too.

Oh, these two!
I love them big!

Grammy & Pop went with us, too!
Love my parents!
They seat you by cars.  We were C.
You can buy tickets by class ... high class, middle class & standard.  Since this was the first year for it, we did standard so I can't really tell you how the other classes were.
Ready for Christmas Town :).
Once the train starts going they come around & punch your ticket.  My kids thought that was the coolest.

I didn't get a picture of the elves but there are 4 or 5 that work on each car.  They were super funny & you could tell they loved their job.  They sang, read a story {Train Ride to Christmas Town}, passed out sugar cookies & hot chocolate.

We had visitors ... a squirrel, cat & teddy bear came around & they let you take pictures with them.
Santa!!
Once you get to Christmas Town {it's a big building decorated with lots of lights} Santa gets on the train.  He comes around & gives out train whistles.  Such a cool little gift.

Then we headed back to the station.

It was really cute & we all enjoyed it.  However, I enjoy the Polar Express in the mountains better.  This was the first year for this though so hopefully next year if they do it again they can add more lights during the train ride because there were only a handful of houses decorated from the station to "Christmas Town."

That wraps up our family 2015 Christmases & all of our Christmas festivities.  It's a good thing we are used to being "on the go" because we haven't stopped since last Wednesday :).

We are enjoying these last few days of Christmas break together before Coop has to go back to school next week ... I don't even want to talk about that though! I love having both of my babies home with me all day!
