HOME TOUR! - The Perfectly Imperfect Mama

HOME TOUR!

Hello & Happy Friday!
We have made it to the weekend!

And today, I'm inviting you all into our home.

I LOVE a good home tour when others share theirs!

If you didn't know, in March, we found us a rental house.  And if you didn't know, we sold our home in 2019 (you can read all about that season of life HERE), we moved into the cutest little farm house rental ... only to move out 4 months later due to a mice infestation (you can read all about that HERE) ... goodness gracious.  So, we moved in with my father-in-love for what was supposed to be 4-6 months until we found us a new house, BUT that turned into almost two years.  In May of last year we sat down with a builder, bought house plans, & were going to build us a home, BUT pandemic & the price of lumber shot through the roof .. (if you still have it in you to keep reading, you can read that story HERE!)

And all that brings us where we are today.  In early April, after much prayer, Dan & I decided that we would find us another rental due to the housing market being outrageous.  Honestly, we didn't really want to rent again, especially after deciding to build, but how everything happened was just a total God thing & we know that we made the right decision according to His will for our life.

So, come on in.
This is our cozy space.  We've really already outgrown this couch, but I had already told myself before we even signed the lease that I was not going to buy anything new & we were going to use what we had.  Besides, small couch or big couch, kiddos would still be laying on top of me anytime I sit down because #momlife.

If you look closely you can also see a sneak peek of my fall décor.  I have that post coming soon, but couldn't share that stuff until I actually showed you the rest of the house!
We have a nice open kitchen which I love so much!
Off from it is the dining room.
This house is a two story .. even though after we sold our home in 2019 I said I would never have stairs again.  God & His sense of humor.

This is what you see at the top of the stairs.  Taking Ellie Joy's picture in my wedding dress is on my to-do list!

Here's the kids bathroom!
My girls are sharing a room & it's worked out great so far!
And I think their room just turned out so sweet.
Plus it helps that they have this loft area as a play room!
Fun fact : It doesn't even look like this anymore.  I made over Ellie Joy's play house & it's now in this room!  I can't wait to share how it turned out with you!
After sharing a room with his sisters for almost two years, Coop finally got his own room again.
And he loves it!
We've been here for four months now & our room still doesn't have the décor up, but we have plans to get that done as soon as life slows down a little bit.  It's just so exciting to have our own space!

This house isn't our forever home.  At least we don't think it is!
We still would love to build, but this house has been such a blessing already & we are loving making it home for this season of life!  Dan & I sit down in the living room many nights & just can't believe that we are here.

God is good!

Okay, I'm off to take Coop for a well check this morning & then taking him to school!  I hope y'all have such a great weekend!

  1. Congrats Whitney!

Love your style aesthetic but I do have to ask ... how do the girls do with sleeping in the same bed? When I was younger and my family would travel my parents would have to split up and my mom would sleep with me and my dad with my brother because my brother and I would intentionally kick each other and try to steal ALL of the covers. It did NOT work well. I can only imagine sharing a room every single night without bunk beds or separate singles. Do you think you might split them up eventually or do they love sharing? I know I have a 3 bedroom house right now and its not something I have to worry about but hopefully your next home (when God leads you there) will give you 4 bedrooms so everyone can have their own space! ❤

    1. Hi Lindsay! Thank you so much! My girls actually do great sleeping in the same bed. We found a wedge pillow that goes underneath the mattress sheet so my oldest doesn't roll on top of my littlest. It's worked great. I will say that many nights my youngest ends up in our room in the middle of the night anyway. Haha! We are just so thankful to have a place of our own. We spent two years living out of 2 rooms where all three of my kiddos shared a room & slept in a pallet on the floor. The beauty in it is that it has taught us to be even more grateful for what we have. We could have gotten twin beds for their room, but like I said I didn't want to buy new things just to buy them. I grew up sharing a room with my sister & most days loved it! Having four bedrooms one day would be amazing, I won't lie, but I have a feeling that they will end up in the same bed at the end of the day no matter where we live. My kiddos love a good camp out & sleeping in a pallet. LOL!

  2. Whitney! I am so glad that your kiddos are so close and love to share. I also love that you guys are grateful for everything you have. I think so many people forget to be grateful for what they DO have. I am one of those people, sometimes. I do love your current home and I am sure that in a few years you'll be ready to buy again and will find the perfect place that works for the entire family (whether that means the girls sharing or not!).
Also, because I am an idiot what kind of pallet were the kids sleeping on? I mean when I was a kiddo my mom bought these roll away beds that she could put out for when we have friends sleep over, but I doubt that's what you're talking about, right?
