A DAY IN THIS SEASON OF LIFE - The Perfectly Imperfect Mama

A DAY IN THIS SEASON OF LIFE

by - Thursday, October 11, 2018

I don't know if you've ever read other mama blogger's day in the life posts, but I do & they are some of my most favorite posts to read.  I love getting to peek inside what their life looks like … but it can also be very hard not to compare your own life to someone else's.

Some mama's get up two hours before their kiddos.  They work out, they have their quiet time, they eat breakfast, they shower, clean their house, have their kiddos a nice breakfast cooked, do laundry, DRINK THEIR COFFEE HOT.  Seriously girls, there are some out there that do it.  And I'm all, yes girlfriend, yes! I want to be you when I grow up. 😉

All the while, I am just over here being the conductor of the hot mess express.

I don't get up hours before my kiddos because when you have a baby who likes to nurse often throughout the night, you NEED to sleep sometime.  I am tired. My workouts … if that's even what you want to call them … consists of laying in the living room floor doing 10 sit ups while a certain baby girl sits on my stomach & also uses me as a jungle gym or chasing said baby girl who is the fastest army crawler I have ever seen.  Maybe if I got up early for the next 12 years, I would finally get caught up on my laundry.  But I doubt it.  And y'all, my kiddos eat goldfish or dry cereal every single morning IN THE CAR on the way to school.

A few weeks ago I decided that I was going to do a day in the life post … & yes, I could've easily changed the day since it was already crazy before I even got out of bed that day, but all the more reason to do it, right!?!  This is literally the season of life that we are in & I couldn't love this crazy, chaotic life more!

So here is a day in the life of us …
Save this picture because y'all … I NEVER EVER look like this in drop off line!  HA!  I'm more of a pjs & bedroom shoes kinda mama all because my alarm doesn't go off until 7am & we leave the house at 7:40.

Breakfast time.
And yes, I sat in the living room floor to feed her.
Time for school.
Every morning, we pray together on the way to school.
The one day I had gotten up early because my mother-in-love was keeping Ellie Joy so I could have a "me day."
Except not.
Millie Jo was up the night before crying with a fever & ear pain so we were off to the doctor.
After the doctor & a severe right ear infection diagnosis, the girl's & I came home & had lunch.
A nice gourmet meal if I do say so myself.
Back in our jammies & nursing.
What 75% of my day looks like but I didn't think a bunch of pictures of me nursing would be very interesting to y'all!
Then it was naptime.
And someone needed one.
Between not feeling good & me not letting her watch JoJo Siwa videos on my phone.  The poor girl was done!
Sigh.

When I finally got time to sit down & open my Bible …
Ellie Joy woke up.
And then it was time to go pick Cooper up & take him to tutoring.
This picture is more "Instagram" …
 This one is reality.
I have to tell them approximately 493 times a day to stop touching each other!
Once tutoring was over, we headed home so I could cook.
And it was a pigs in a blanket kinda night .. on paper plates because …
A to the men!
After dinner, it was bedtime.
Are you keeping up yet of how many times Ellie Joy changed jammies!?  It was three.
All cuddled up in bed with my hubby …
Plus one because there is at least one in our bed most nights!
And finally about 11pm I was able to shower .. & yes, I'm back in the same shirt because I had just put it on before my shower.

WHAT .. A .. DAY!
Goodness gracious.
Hot mess, right!?!

I may not cook breakfast each morning, but my children do get to eat.  We may pray in the car on the way to school, but at least I am teaching my children to pray each & every day. My quiet time may not be ideal, but my children are seeing me in my Bible.  And I may never get caught up on laundry, but … well, I just may never be caught up.

This is us.

And this is us in this season of life!

  1. Love this! My life is very similar right now and I wouldn’t change the crazy for the world. It’s so easy to compare and feel like I should be doing more but my kids are happy, healthy and amazing... they know they are loved every single day. Life is good!!!!
