WEEKEND AWAY IN SAVANNAH!

Happy Friday, friends!

Last Friday, I went to drop my kiddos off at Mimi & Paw-Paw's house for the night so Dan & I could have a date night.  When I got ready to leave, my mother-in-love asks if we just wanted the whole weekend together ... um, YESSS we do!!

A few years ago, Dan & I decided to start having a weekend away together two times a year & it has been something that we look forward to every year now.  This year, we had been trying to plan something for a couple months, but we just couldn't find a good time that worked ... until last weekend!  It was so spontaneous & we LOVED it!
We decided to just stay home Friday night since it was already late & just did dinner in town.

And on Saturday morning, we woke up early, packed a bag, & headed to Savannah, Georgia!  We weren't sure we would get a room with it being Valentine's weekend, but the Marriott on the riverfront had a room left so we stayed there.

Once we checked in, we went & walked around for a few hours.
I have always wanted to go see the big ol oak trees & y'all, they were even more gorgeous than I had imagined!

Later that evening, we headed back to the hotel.  We were ordering room service by 5pm & watching Netflix.  In my Instastory yesterday, I mentioned that we "Netflix & Chilled" & was later told by my younger cousin that Netflix & Chill does indeed NOT mean we watched Netflix & just chilled.  HAHAHA!! Who knew!?!  When did I get old & not know that!?!  Put that on my list of things to NOT say ever again.  Dang kids today. 😂
This was the view from our balcony.  These cargo boats go in & out of the Savannah River all the time & it was super cool to watch.

ANYWAYS, we slept in Sunday morning because #nokids.
We checked out of the hotel & headed to Tybee Island, which was about 20 minutes from where we were staying, to see the ocean & to have breakfast at The Breakfast Club.  It was recommended on Pinterest & it did NOT disappoint.  Holy cow, if you're ever that way, you have to try it!
We started to head home & I told Dan that I wanted to find a place like you see on the movies with a dirt road & the oak trees before we leave ...
And we found it!

This was at the Wormsloe Plantation & I was like a kid on Christmas morning when we pulled up.

We headed home Sunday evening & went to grab the kiddos.  Of course most of our conversations were about them while we were away, but they were still missed.  But dang it, a weekend away is so good for the soul!  Your marriage will thrive off of some alone time!  Take that trip with your man, girls!

Okay, I'm off to get all the things for a certain little girl's 3rd birthday party tomorrow!! I can't believe my Itty Bitty girl will be three next week!

Have the best weekend, y'all!

  2. Whitney, I love that you and your hubby make it a goal to get away for two weekends a year!! So vital in marriage to make the time for things like this. I have to ask... what *does* "Netflix & Chill" mean then?!?! I don't get it, LOL!
